A lot of people had been looking forward to last night's opening of Reliant Stadium, and for good reason. For the first time in six years, the NFL is back in town. While Reliant Stadium appears to be a hit, it seems it might be a bit longer before the occupants, the Houston Texans, will be a threat to anyone but themselves.
Last night, the Texans lost to Miami 24-3 in a game that was nowhere near as close as the score might indicate. A lot of people ate $5.75 hamburgers and drank $5.50 beers to watch a bad football team stumble through 60 minutes of preseason hijinks. Still, the Texans ARE an expansion team, and Miami is a proven playoff team, so the end result was fairly predictable. As long as Houston fans understand the realities facing the Texans this year, it will be an enjoyable season- albeit likely not one filled with a lot of wins.
At least the stadium is nice....
