Our world in numbers

That's the number of people who have died this fiscal year trying to cross Arizona's western desert from Mexico- 13 since August 10th. The US Border Patrol attributes the deaths to two factors: the desperation of those Mexican immigrants seeking work and the callousness of smugglers who leave them in the murderous heat.

Of course, there is one other factor that just might have been a contributing factor: Congress' failure to enact meaningful immigration reform. How many more illegals have to die before Congress acts?
