Riding slowly off into the sunset on his trusty steed....

I have a great deal of respect for my friend, the RightWingTexan. We, being at opposite ends of the political spectrum, would likely have trouble agreeing on a choice of adult refreshments (From the Left: "Tastes great!" From the Right": "Less filling!"). He has, however, put a link to TPRS on his link bar (Yep, that's me, the "Token Texas Liberal"), and I am grateful for his open-mindedness and indulgence of my political peccadilloes. Still, like any dysfunctional family, we manage to get on each other's nerves. I think I may have aggravated him just a wee bit with this rant about Shrub. While in no way meant to be a personal attack, I think I may have hit a nerve. My bad....

One of the things I love about political weblogs is the potential for some pretty serious disagreement. Say what you will, what we definitely DON'T have here is failure to communicate. I don't expect people to agree with me, and in this case RightWingTexan clearly doesn't. Such is the beauty of our democratic system. I don't pretend to be the fount of ultimate knowledge, nor do I have all the answers. What I do have are some pretty strong opinions. I stand by my comments about Shrub, though I recognize that I'm not going to winning any popularity contests by doing so.

I do not respect Shrub the politician, though I imagine that as a person he is probably eminently likable. I may not view him as a legitimate President, but he is what we have until 2004. I STILL don't want him dragging us into a war we don't deserve.

Of course, I'll probably take a few more broadsides from RightWingTexan and his RightWingFriends. Some of it I may even deserve. Regardless, I'll be enjoying the repartee. Party on, Garth....

Update: It seems that RightWingTexan is folding his tent, a victim of too many people taking things too seriously. I am truly saddened to see him depart the scene. While we occupy opposite ends of the political spectrums, I respect him for his opinions and his willingness to indulge and examine different points of view. Apparently, he did not feel the same love being returned to him, and I am saddened by that. I'll miss you deconstructing my arguments, comrade; it was fun. Vaya con Dios, mi amigo....
