Chapter 3- It would be faster if you started walking

It would seem that Fay is in no particular hurry to get wherever it is she's going. At least she is moving, but heading inland at 2 MPH is not going to do anyone any good. The longer Fay stays out over the open water, the stronger she will become, and she's not going to have to go far to wreak any havoc.

Surf's up, dude....

This sort of situation leads to some interesting situations when it comes to cancelling activities. F'rinstance, my 15-year-old stepson was supposed to go to a debate tournament at Deer Park High School this afternoon, but the Clear Creek School District has prohibited the Clear Lake High School debate team from travelling to the tournament, which is only a few miles away out Highway 225. Interestingly, Clear Lake High School's football team is being allowed to play it's game tomorrow as scheduled. Hmm... an INDOOR activity is cancelled, but an OUTDOOR activity is not. Of course, it IS football we're talking about here, and this IS Texas.

So far, it's just dark, ugly, and wet...and one of the local news stations is doing live updates from the Seabrook Kroger (Yes, Ted, the tiny coastal town of Seabrook would be the first town to be wiped off the map should Fay decide to vent her wrath on the Texas coast. God help these poor, unfortunate souls- and their trailers....).
