Happy Anniversary, baby. Got you on my mind....

It was a year ago today when I started this weblog. I was a contractor at Enron, my contract was running out, and I needed something to keep myself from going mad. Hey, I thought; I could teach myself HTML!! And the rest, as they say, is history. It was a lame effort initially, and some might argue that it still is. Regardless, I have learned a good deal, and I've discovered just how much I need to write. Whether or not anyone wants to read what I have to say is another story, but the writing has proven to be therapeutic. I may never get paid to write (if you're hiring, I'm listening), but at least I have a forum, and that's a pretty good start.

Along the way, I've managed to upset a few people, alienate a couple more, and, most rewardingly, establish contact with people from around the world that I never would have otherwise been able to do. I owe a debt of gratitude to a multitude of people. The list is too long to properly acknowledge, but by now you should know who you are. Thank you for your patronage, your counsel, and your patience. I'm still a work in progres....

I would be remiss were I not to recognize a few folks who have served at various times as muse, inspiration, and/or foil. People like Larry Simon, Chuck Kuffner, and Ginger Stampley have at times inspired me, answered thorny questions, and helped me past the rough spots. Brian Kane is the single biggest reason why this site looks the way that it does. Brian actually gave up a Saturday night and did the MT installation FOR me, while we communicated and commiserated over Yahoo! Messenger. I'm not sure I have to words to adequately express my gratitude, so I'll just say...thank you, friend.

Most of all, I must thank my wife, Susan, for her patience and forbearance. She doesn't always understand this obsession of mine, but she at least condones my indulgence of it. Hey, at least she knows where I am....

As of 8.52 this morning, 12,166 poor misguided souls have visited The People's Republic of Seabrook. OK, so I'm no threat to Glenn Reynolds, but it is nice to be appreciated. I hope that I will continue to be worthy of your time. Thanks for visiting The People's Republic of Seabrook- where the sun always shines, the palm trees sway in the gentle breeze, and Liberal political thinking thrives. It's a pretty good place to be....

Party on, Garth!!!
