Day 4 On the Campaign Trail

Mr. Cluth wants to go to Austin

Six days until Election Day.... Man, this write-in campaign of mine is all of three days old, and I'm EXHAUSTED....

I took advantage of early voting & did my citizen's duty today. The upside of this is that there is now at least ONE vote in the system for me. I'm not a threat to Rick Perry or Tony Sanchez yet, but it's still early.

Given my lack of staff and financing, I'm having trouble attracting much attention. I was going to do a pair of TV commercials : one accusing Rick Perry of cavorting with naked 16-year-old cheerleaders in the Governor's mansion, and the other accusing Tony Sanchez of tripping old ladies and stealing their Social Security checks. Unfortunately, that requires money, and the campaign coffers at the moment have a grand total of $.27. So much for fancy TV advertising....

I am beginning to attract at least a little bit of attention, if not outright endorsements. Scott Chaffin was kind enough to give me a plug, although he did point out that my hatred of the Dallas Cowboys may cost me some support in the Hispanic community. Well, a man's got to stand for something, and the evil, blood-sucking, not-even-mediocre Vaqueros are still the spawn of Satan.

Chuck Kuffner was also kind enough to provide me with some free publicity, if not a pledge of undying devotion. It's good to at least be recognized, and if this trend continues, I think I've got a good shot at reaching my goal of double-digits (votes).

As the campaign drones on towards next Tuesday, I may have to alter my strategy. This may smack of desperation to some, but if I'm to hit double-digits, I may have to begin appealing to fringe groups: the conspiracy theorists, the unbalanced, the incarcerated, the heavily medicated, etc. Yes, I'm discovering why prostitution and politics have much in common....
