The team that wouldn't die

Minnesota Twins 11, Oakland Athletics 2

The team that not even Satan could contract still refuses to go gently into that good night. By beating Oakland yesterday, the Twins have forced a deciding Game 5 today in Oakland. If the Twins can beat Oakland, they would have the home field advantage in the AL Championship Series against the Anaheim Angels, who eliminated the evil, blood-sucking New York Yankees yesterday.

While I dearly want to see the Twins win today, I'm also just thankful to see the team being successful. The years since their 1991 World Championship have been lean and difficult, but they've held on. When I saw them play in Cleveland this summer, I saw a young, hungry team that plays the game the way it should be played- hard, and to the final out. Would that more professional teams could follow their lead....
