This is what it takes to get me to watch the Cowboys

With talent, resilience and drive, Smith runs into the record books

The only way I would ever willingly sit through an entire Dallas Cowboys game would be if something special was happening (and, no, winning a Super Bowl does NOT count...). Yesterday was just such a day. I wanted to see Emmitt Smith break Walter Payton's career rushing record, and I was fortunate to see exactly that.

Smith has always been a class act, and is one of only three current or former Cowboys (Troy Aikman and Darryl Johnston being the others) I have any respect for. How could you not respect someone who has carried himself with the class and dignity that Smith has displayed over the years? He may be a step slower than he was a few years ago, but who among us aren't ?

For one day at least, I was able to suspend my utter distaste for the evil, blood-sucking Cowboys. Now, if they could just get rid of that monstrosity of a stadium....
