INDECISION 2002: PICK YOUR POISON

Though most of us have been (justifiably and understandably) complaining for weeks about negative campaign advertising, today is the day the money and vitriol has been pointing towards. We can (and probably should) complain about the quality of debate, but the point is that our electoral process makes our country what it is- warts and all. So, bitch and moan all you want, but if you don't vote, you have no right to complain. Today is your opportunity to do something about what you think is wrong.

If you're not sure what the issues are, check this out. Or, if you already have your mind made up and just want a good chuckle before heading out to your polling place, try this:

PRESIDENT & MRS. BUSH URGE ALL AMERICANS TO DOWNLOAD AND WIDELY DISSEMINATE THE OFFICIAL 2002 TRUE CHRISTIAN NONPARTISAN VOTING GUIDE

OK, so it's not exactly balanced....

My own campaign for governor was a half-serious, half-tongue-in-cheek protest of the miserably banal and vitriolic campaign for Governor here in Texas. Tony Sanchez spent almost $60 million of his own money, and he's going to get his @## kicked. I spent not one thin dime on my campaign, and I'm also going to get my @## kicked. So who got the better deal? Of course, I can't wander around the Rio Grande Valley handing out "walking around money", but at least I wasn't airing commercials accusing my opponent of being in cahoots with drug runners or in the pocket of "Big Insurance".

To those of you (and I imagine it's a small group) who thought enough of me to give me your vote, thank you. Though I have no chance of winning, I don't believe that a vote for me is a wasted vote. Voting for Tony Sanchez or Rick Perry if you don't believe in either of them- now THAT would be a wasted vote.

Of course, given that I've spent exactly $0.00 on my campaign, my dollars-per-vote ratio ought to set a record....

Whatever your political persuasion- Liberal or Conservative- get off your @## and vote. How often does your voice truly count for something? Today is one of those days.
