GOP cements control of House, gains upper hand in Senate
Despite wins, Bush is facing split electorate
Complete National election results
Cluth campaign HQ is eerily silent this morning. Everyone is still asleep, and the candidate (me) is left to make sense out of last night's carnage. I don't know how many votes I received, and I'm still trying to make sense out of the Texas Secretary of State's website. While I'm fairly certain I won't be moving to Austin, I am curious to see how I did at the polls. As soon as I can figure it out, I'll pass the results along.
If you're a Liberal, last night's nationwide results don't bode well. It's looking as if Americans have by and large agreed to at least two years of total "I got mine, you get yours" self-centered political posturing. I'm hoping that Republicans will prove me wrong, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. I suppose the results serve to indicate how selfish and self-absorbed the American electorate has become, as well as how adept Republicans have become at exploiting that selfishness.
It will be interesting to see what Shrub and his minions try to cram down our throats over the next two years. With no effective opposition in the House or Senate, they will likely have a free pass. Remember, America, that when Republicans begin passing tax cuts that drive up the deficit or create wars in foreign countries to deflect attention from the economy- you voted for these folks.
Of course, I could be wrong. It's happened once or twice before.... ;o)
