Chuck Kuffner raises the curtain of scrutiny on Orlando Brown (that rarest of breeds- a Hispanic Republican), a failed mayoral candidate who seems to be racking up the frequent flier miles on the public dime. Not to presume that there is anything wrong with official business travel at taxpayer expense, but this exchange with a local reporter should serve to raise an eyebrow or two:
News2Houston Investigator Robert Arnold asked Sanchez about the trips.
"Can you remember what you did on that trip?" Arnold asked.
"I can hardly remember what I had for dinner last week," Sanchez said.
Of course, I can't remember what I had for dinner last week, but then taxpayers aren't paying my travel expenses, either. Kinda makes you wonder, eh?? If Sanchez' travel expenses are above board, and they may well be, then why the case of amnesia? Sanchez is, by all accounts, a highly intelligent and capable public servant, and one not normally prone to memory lapses.
Why not just put your cards on the table, Orlando? If everything is above board, at least be open and forthcoming. Now it just looks as if you have something to hide....
