Reports of black helicopters at the crash site were exaggerated....

THE (POSSIBLE) ASSASSINATION OF PAUL WELLSTONE

You know, if you think about this long enough, it almost begins to make sense. Of course, no one should take this too seriously. After all, it comes from the guy who drew "Terror Widows", which lampooned the perceived greed of women who lost their spouses on 9.11.01.

If you consider Wellstone's tragic death from a historical perspective, it can give one pause. Consider those politicians who have died as a result of plane crashes- Hale Boggs, Mickey Leland, Paul Wellstone- Democrats all. When is the last time a Conservative Republican died in a plane crash? Hmm?? Well, it's food for thought, but even I am not cynical enough to believe it is anything but sheer coincidence.

The real tragedy is that there are people who will argue the existence of a conspiracy in Wellstone's death until their last breath. Certainly, Wellstone and his family died tragically. Absent any solid evidence, does it serve any purpose at all to muddy the waters by trying to weave a conspiracy out of whole cloth? Let the Wellstones rest in peace.

(Update: thanks to Ravenwood for pointing out that I forgot to include Mel Carnahan in my list of Democrats who've died in plane crashes....)
