You! Out of the gene pool!! Now!!!

Fatal stunt had nothing to do with 'Jackass,' says MTV star

No, apparently it had everything to do with being STOOPID....

An Ohio college student was posthumously credited with demonstrating the effectiveness of natural selection after being killed while trying to recreate a "Jackass" stunt.

College freshman Adam Ports, 18, died after falling from a moving pickup truck in a stunt possibly inspired by the television show "Jackass," authorities said. Knoxvillian P.J. Clapp, who took the name Johnny Knoxville, co-created and starred in the series that debuted in 2000 for a one-year run.

Ports and three fellow students at Tiffin University set a chair on fire and threw it from the back of a moving truck Tuesday night while friends photographed the stunt. Ports then jumped or fell from the truck as it sped away on a country road, officials said.

He died Wednesday from head injuries.

I'm with Johnny Knoxville on this one. Now, I've never seen "Jackass", and I have no plans to. There is enough rampant stupidity in my day-to-day life already. Even so, how can you blame a TV show for the stupid things people do? If you believe that Knoxville and his compadres are responsible for this rash of "suicide-by-stupidity" cases, then you obviously believe that humans are highly-suggestible, intellectually vacant drones. Perhaps they are, but they are generally capable of making their own decisions (or what passes for them).

Besides, these were COLLEGE STUDENTS who were orchestrating their own demise. Higher education, as I understand it, is supposed to engender a heightened ability to think for oneself and make more enlightened decisions. Apparently not in this case....

So, yes, natural selection DOES work. While I feel for the friends and family of this poor, misguided, and now deceased inDUHvidual, weeding out the gene pool is generally a good thing. At least this inDUHvidual won't be breeding.
