Friends don't let friends anthropomorphize their pets

Where EVERY pet wants to go??

Speaking of having too damn much money, one of Susan's friends told her about this "pet resort" near Houston's Galleria. I'm not so sure that Rover Oaks is where every pet wants to go, but it certainly is where every human who anthropomorphizes their pets wants them to go.

Don't get me wrong; I love my pets, and they're an important part of my family. Still, I would never presume to force them into some sort of artificially created environment that, in the end, is designed only to salve my guilt for being too busy or self-important to take care of my pets. Salem the Wonderdog is just as happy spending her day chasing squirrels in the backyard. It doesn't cost me anything, Salem has fun, and I don't have to deal with uptight rich folks and their ridiculously pampered pets.

There's an old saying (I think I saw it on a bumper sticker once) that goes something like "A fool and his money are soon parted". In Houston that holds true, but it's the pet resort that actually separates the fools from their money. Only in America....
