The reality that Senators are elected to do "the People's business" is a trite little phrase that too often gets lost in the testosterone-overloaded realities of political rivalry. The sad thing is that Republican hatred of Hillary Clinton would trump their commitment to their responsibility to do the job they were elected to do.
A prominent conservative operative in Washington, fearing the prospect of Hillary Clinton on the Democratic ticket for vice president next year, is urging Senate Republicans "not to do anything to help her ambitions by building a Senate record." Specifically, he urged not co-signing letters or co-sponsoring legislation with Clinton, not getting photographed with her, and not socializing or travelling with her.
That's right; you wouldn't want to be caught dead trying to be an effective legislator if it involved working with Mrs. Clinton, would you? Someone might think you're some castrating feminazi out to advance the radical lesbo-feminist agenda, and what would THAT do to your re-election prospects, eh?
It sounds like someone could stand to have their priorities straightened out....
