Everett hit in head by fan's cell phone
Well, I would agree that throwing objects at baseball players is beyond the pale. Still, if you absolutely HAVE to use an outfielder for a target, you couldn't have picked a more appropriate target than head case extraodinare Carl Everett.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Texas right fielder Carl Everett was hit in the back of the head with a cell phone thrown by a fan in the Rangers' 12-2 loss to the Oakland Athletics on Saturday.
The male fan was arrested, according to A's spokesman Jim Young, and Everett said he planned to press charges. Everett was discussing it with an Oakland police officer after the game in the clubhouse.
"Luckily I was wearing a hat," Everett said. "If it wasn't for the hat, I'd be cut back there. That fan should be ashamed of himself."
True. The fan should have been arrested, and he should be proscuted to the fullest extent of the law. Of course, you could apply that logic to Everett as well, who is easily the most despised player in the game- at least since Albert Belle left the scene. Sadly, being a self-absorbed, preachy, intolerant, moody jackass isn't a crime.
