If David Letterman were a Libertarian...

Libertarian Party Press Releases: Top 10 ways politicians will waste the income tax this year (via mi compadre Elbert McDoolihan)

We were supposed to have our taxes done by yesterday? Man, I just LOVE the sound a deadline makes as it whooshes by at warp speed.

WASHINGTON, DC – On April 15, Libertarians are reminding Americans that there is something worse than having to send thousands of dollars to the IRS: Learning about all the crazy ways the government will spend your money.

"Rampant government waste, fraud and abuse only adds insult to the injury inflicted by the income tax," said Geoffrey Neale, national chair of the Libertarian Party, whose platform calls for abolishing the income tax. "On tax day, it's time to remind ourselves how right humorist P.J. O'Rourke was when he said giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teen-age boys."

Hey, come on; here in Texas giving whiskey and cars to teenage boys is a time-honored tradition. If you think about it, it really isn't much difference than allowing Congress to write the federal tax code.
