Beware the power of stupid people in large groups

Dixie Chicks still ruffling feathers in Houston

Well, they were one of the first to jump on the bandwagon, pandering to the inflamed emotions of people clearly unable to think rationally. Now they're having to deal with the results of that pandering. Cry me a f*****g river, willya??

Listeners at country station KKBQ (92.9 FM) continued to register their disapproval of the controversial Texas trio in a poll on the station's Web site Thursday.

The station asked listeners if they were ready to hear the Chicks again. If so, afternoon drive-time disc jockey Cactus Jack planned to play one of their songs -- the first in two months.

More than 8,500 votes were cast in the unscientific poll, with 56 percent voting against bringing the Chicks' music back. So for now, they remain banned from Houston's two leading country stations.

Both KKBQ and KILT (100.3 FM) pulled the Chicks from their playlists in mid-March after singer Natalie Maines told a London concert audience just before the war in Iraq that "we're ashamed that the president of the United States is from Texas."

KILT program director Jeff Garrison said the station has no immediate plans to restore the Chicks to its playlist.

"I just want it to end," he said. "People call me fascist if I don't play them and anti-American if I do. I can't win."

"We're dammed if we do and dammed if we don't," agreed KKBQ program director Michael Cruise. "This thing is almost split down the middle. Half will be mad at us no matter what we do."

Y'all let this genie out of the bottle to begin with, so stop your whining. Without your DJs beating the drums to fire up the masses, this issue would have blown over much sooner. Hey, if you dance with the Devil, you're eventually going to get burned. Idiots....
