Suit seeks ban on Oreo cookies
Please tell me that I'm not the only one who thinks this maroon is a flaming jackass:
A lawyer who has spent much of his life enjoying Oreo cookies has sued Kraft Foods Inc. seeking to ban the much-loved cookies in California because they contain trans fat, an ingredient he calls inedible.
Hello?? If it's inedible, why then have you been consuming it for much of your life?? Yes, I understand the evils of hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils, but is legislating or litigating them out of existence really a wise use of our legal and/or legislative systems? People eat 11 BILLION Oreos a year. Do you really think that we're just going to willingly give them up because a lawyer with too much time on his hands decides to go on a crusade?
There is a very simple solution here. If you object to trans fat, stop consuming food products that contain them. Educate people on the health risks involved in consuming trans fat. Perhaps if enough people follow your lead, manufacturers will respond. Threaten Kraft's market share, then sit back and watch how high they jump. Just get this crap out of our courts. Don't you have an ambulance to chase?
