Oates, Giguere power Ducks past Wild in Game 4
It was a good news, bad news scenario. The good news was that, after being shut out for three straight games, the Minnesota Wild scored their first goal of the Western Conference Finals. The bad news was that the Anaheim Might Ducks (and just what the hell kind of name for team is THAT, anyway??) scored two goals, defeating Minnesota 2-1 and sweeping the series four games to nil.
Yes, I'm disappointed, but given that this season was only Minnesota's third in the NHL, it's hard not to feel good about the future. They've managed to convince Minnesota hockey fans (myself included) to almost forget Norm Green and the North Stars. The future looks good for the Wild (just as soon as THEY find a decent nickname- Wild WHAT??), and it's been fun watching these guys play- especially since the Houston Aeros are their top farm club.
I must admit, though, that one of the highlights of my year- the Stanley Cup finals- seems much less appealing. If Ottawa can beat New Jersey, I might be interested, but if it's an Anaheim- New Jersey series, well, yawn...wake me up when it's over, willya?
Game on, eh??
