Bush's Spokesman Will Trade Podium for the Private Sector: Fleischer's Reticence Reflected Boss's Tight Rein on Information

Having stayed just long enough to guarantee himself a lucrative contract in the private sector, Presidential mouthpiece Ari Fleischer will be stepping down as White House Press Secretary in July. In all honesty, Fleischer is one of the few members of the Shrub Administration I admire. He's intelligent, articulate, and his low-key ability to think on his feet are truly impressive qualities. His interesting and witty personality was a welcome departure in an Administration filled with stuffed shirts.

So, what next? Well, after the obligatory book deal, perhaps he could rescue ABC's "This Week", which is headed into the toilet under former Clinton mouthpiece George Stephanopolous' watch.
