WELL, SOMEONE HAD TO BE FIRST...

I mean, we don't want Jack to come back and see none of his guest bloggers had come through for him and think that we don't love him, right? Of course not.

I didn't want to be the first, but there ya go. I was hoping someone bigger than me would post first, set the tone, make it okay for lil ol' me to step in neatly behind them and have my presence ignored. But no - had to be me. Because I got sick of waiting, to be honest, as I've never before laid hands on MT and have been dying to see what the hype is all about.

Unfortunately, since I am only a guest here (and thus, required to leave the blog in the same condition as it was when I got here) I am resisting the urge to run around the place pushing buttons and flipping switches. Looks like a sweet little tool, to be sure.

But what to blog? What to say? How to keep the tone in a Jack-like fashion? Being asked to guest blog is a pretty big deal - it's not as important as, say, being asked to donate a kidney but it's right up there with being asked to babysit someone's kids. You wouldn't let just anyone watch 'em, right? And what do you get more attention for, your kids or your blog? See, when you view it in terms like that it's easy to see what a big deal it is.

Since I can't think of suitable content for an entry - and in keeping with the whole, "I love Jack" theme - I'll tell you a story about the first time I became aware of Jack.

I began my blog in July of last year but didn't quite get into the swing of things for a couple of months. Somehow or another I managed to find Blogrolling and, for a laugh, did a search for myself - lo and behold, someone had linked to me. My single link was Jack - I came here and had a poke around but didn't reciprocate the link because - get this - I thought I'd somehow offend him or encourage him to mock me if he saw what a small little blog I was running. How dare I link to him? (I know - the logic is lost on me even now, but hey, I was young, ya know?)

Eventually I gained enough regular visitors that I felt myself worthy of linking to Jack. And the rest, they say, is history.

So I toast you, Jack, for seeing a little something special (*sniff*) in that young, wet-behind-the-ears blogger that I once was. Excuse me, but I have a little something in my eye...(*sniffle*)

Verklempt-ingly,

Natalie
