A little ketchup should take care of this problem

7-inch french fry for sale on eBay (via Fark)

It must have been a slow news day in Wausau. No, this doesn't quite qualify for a DUMASS AWARD. Even though this is pretty stupid, it doesn't rise to the level of criminal or dangerous stupidity. So, we'll call it an honorable mention, mostly for having too much time on one's hands.

Simon Holland isn't satisfied with registering a nearly 7-inch french fry with the Guinness World Records. He's now looking for bidders on eBay.

"It's a whopper," said Holland, who's serving as the front man for a family member who got the fry in a bag purchased Tuesday afternoon at Culver's restaurant in Wisconsin Rapids. The purchaser wants to remain anonymous. "It's the king of the deep-fat fryer."

Holland's entrepreneurial spirit kicked in the minute the elongated fry emerged from its fast-food container at the local franchise owned by Brad Prohl and Greg Giese. The crinkle-cut french fry, cut from one potato, measures 6 3/4 inches.

"Sell it on eBay!" he said. "I put it on the minute we got home. It went under the 'Weird Stuff' category. What do you do with a fry that big?"

Well, the obvious answer is: the same thing you do with any fry. Eat it.

"Yeah. We considered that," Holland, a native of London, England, answered as though the idea were a novel one. "But it just sat there. On top of the bag. Think of the potato it came from!"

Holland registered the find with the Guinness World Records online....

What, there aren't any jobs available in Wausau to keep this maroon occupied?? Here's the truly disturbing thing, however: bidding on Ebay had reached $22.50 as of 9pm Friday. It sounds as if someone has too damn much money and too little common sense....
