Ten Appalling Lies We Were Told About Iraq
The Iraqi dictator must not be permitted to threaten America and the world with horrible poisons and diseases and gases and atomic weapons.
– Pres. George Bush (Oct. 7, 2002, in a speech in Cincinnati)
I supported the war in Iraq, and now I find myself wondering if my support wasn't purchased by a laundry list of lies fabricated to obtain a desired result. I'd never imagined that my government could be craven or cynical enough to dupe the American public into supporting a war against Iraq. My God, how naive I was....
It's not that I don't support the result of the war on Iraq. On human rights grounds alone, one could make an argument for justifying the war. That is NOT, however, what the Shrub Administration used to convince the American public that our cause was just. Rather than work towards making a case that could be substantiated, Shrub and his minions cobbled together a case for war based on assumptions, half-truths, and prevarications. They wanted a particular result, and they crafted their "facts" to fit their argument. Despicable? You bet. Let's see Our Sainted President make his case to a family who has lost a son or daughter in Iraq.
If the lies alleged in this article are an accurate reflection of the facts, and I believe they are, Shrub and his Administration owe it to the American people to resign. He has proven himself incapable of providing honest leadership, even as he continues to wrap himself in the flag and his Christian faith. Our Sainted President has plumbed new depths with his hypocrisy.
