Can anyone reasonably claim to be surprised that the Bush White House would stoop this low?

The Valerie Plame Affair: Whodunnit? And Why?

This may be remembered as the weekend the wheels started to come off the Bush White House.

I'm still having difficulty grasping the reality that someone in the Bush White House could be so cravenly and callously political as to jeopardize the career and perhaps the safety of an American intelligence operative. While I'm still trying to wrap my head around this travesty, Mark Kleiman seems to have a pretty good grip on things.
