Demonstrating once again that there is nothing "compassionate" about Conservatives

Compassionate Conservatives strike again

Even faith-based clinics that promote abstinence -- in line with White House policy -- have had to close, according to organizers.

Under the policy, known as the Mexico City rule by supporters and the Global Gag rule by opponents, foreign family planning agencies cannot receive U.S. funds if they provide abortion services or lobby to make or keep abortion legal in their own country.

I think Jo means it this time:

If there were ever another reason to loathe President Babble-On, here it is: Shutting off funding for Women's Health Clinics because they provide reproductive rights/care information/services...or in Christo-FascistSpeak, Abortion Counselng and Services. Yes, that's right folks, your Presdential Pander Bear is on his knees, sucking up to the likes of Jerry, Pat and Franklin and all thier ilk, because, well his poll numbers suck (YAY!!!) and he needs to feel the love.

It amazes me how our Prevaricator-in-Chief has no problem enforcing poverty in Africa by denying basic reproductive rights/care information/services to those who could most benefit. Of course, this makes perfect sense when you view this in light of his need to pander to the slash-and-burn Religious Right. Dammit, man, there are votes to be had, and starving Africans don't vote!

In the final analysis, though, denying reproductive care and information to African clinics is a horribly penny-wise, pound-foolish approach. What we do not spend up front will be more than made up by the additional mouths needing to be fed by American foreign aid programs. Of course, the Religious Right will be happy, because at least we won't be "supporting abortion", eh? When all is said and done, "Compassionate Conservatism" is just another name for narrow-minded, self-serving ignorance and intolerance.

That's right, dammit, if Africans have too many mouths to feed then they should just stop having sex....
