Clark Enters Crowded Presidential Race
From West Point to Vietnam, 34 years in the United States Army, through war in the Balkans, back to Little Rock for business, I am proud to have made that journey, proud to have served my country in uniform. Now we are talking about a new journey.
- Gen. Wesley Clark
I'm still not sold on Howard Dean yet. Too much unfocused passion and righteous anger and not enough substance. Dean has potential, and I'm certainly not ruling out supporting him, but I have yet to be convinced. Wesley Clark? Now here we have some possibilities. Granted, he's probably a bit more moderate than Dean and some of the other Dwarves, but he has a degree of credibility of military and security no one else possesses.
Realistically, the only three candidates that do anything at all for me are Dean, Clark, and John Edwards. At least Edwards has put forth ideas that I can get my head around. Dean seems a bit of a fad, although he may have staying power if he can lay out a solid program. I am excited about Wesley Clark, simply because I think he instantly gives the Democratic Party credibility on Homeland Security.
It's too early to have any idea how things will play out, but I think the race for the Democratic Presidential nomination just became a lot more interesting.
