High-school dropout Jimmy Dean, who left Plainview High School in Plainview, Texas, in 1946 to join the Army Air Corps, then went on to a career as a country singer, TV personality and sausage magnate, was awarded his diploma under a new Texas law that allows people to graduate if they left school to join the military.
