Sleep apnea is a strange bedfellow
The Houston Chronicle's Dwight Silverman has done a masterful job of summing up his experience with sleep apnea, with closely mirrors my own. I only wish I'd known this in my 20's instead of my early 40's.
Sleeping with a Constant Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine has meant some changes, but the tradeoff (much better sleep) has been worth the inconvenience. Because of the way the CPAP machine fits to my head, I have to sleep on my back, which I had never done before. It took several weeks to be able to feel like I could sleep comfortably, but once I got used to it things seemed to come together.
It's nice not having to wonder if today will be the day that I'll be falling asleep behind the wheel of my truck during the day, or while I'm driving a company vehicle. It's a nice feeling waking up feeling refreshed. It's been a long time coming
