By the way, in case y'all hadn't noticed, hockey season is here (YESS!!!). Life is once again worth living. Of course, I recognize that not everyone shares my passion for the game, especially here in the hockey-impaired state of Texas (Oddly enough, though most Texans don't know a hip check from a hip replacement, Texas has more professional hockey teams that any other state.)
Duff's got some interesting ideas- I particularly like his suggestion to make Brett Hull commisioner of the NHL. Once you do that, then the rest of the ideas boil down to one basic concept: the game used to be better in the '50s and '60s before TV moguls decided that it would be fun to tweak with the game to make it more "appealing" for a wider audience.
I DO have one bone to pick with Duff, though: YES, some of us DO miss the Minnesota North Stars, @$$wipe....
(This week's sign that the Apocalypse is upon us: even the freakin' Montreal Canadiens have introduced a third jersey. Is NOTHING sacred?? Jeez, they could have at least come up with something that doesn't make them look like hospital orderlies....)
