Get a roll of stamps and mail it in, y'all....

The tone for this one was set from the start

Schooner steamrolls Aggies 77-0

OKLAHOMA 77, TEXAS A&M 0

You know, a couple short weeks ago, A&M dismantled Baylor 73-10. Now, if memory serves, Baylor still has to go to Norman this season- next Saturday, as a matter of fact. That whimpering sound you hear is emanating from Waco. They just did the math, and...GOOD LORD, MAN!! Isn't there the equivalent of a 10-run mercy rule in college football?? Apparently not.

....and there was much weeping and ganshing of teeth....

I'm just thankful that I decided not to watch this euthanization of a not-all-that-bad football team.

NORMAN, Okla. — Early in the second quarter, the Oklahoma Sooners had two touchdowns wiped out because of penalties on the same drive.

It made little difference.

The Sooners ended the drive by finding the end zone, making the score 28-0.

That drive pretty much summed up Saturday afternoon in Oklahoma for the Texas Aggies as nothing slowed down the top-ranked Sooners — not penalties and especially not the Aggie defense.

Oklahoma scored at will, torching the Aggies 77-0, in front of a sellout crowd of 83,461 at Memorial Stadium, the largest margin of defeat handed to an A&M team.

The score eclipsed the previous margin, a 48-0 thumping by Texas more than a century ago in 1898.

The 77 points scored by OU were the most allowed by the Aggies in a game, topping the 59 Texas Tech scored earlier this season.

“ I don’t think you ever think it’s going to be like this,” Aggie head coach Dennis Franchione said. “You look at the ends of the spectrum and prepare to deal with things, but you don’t ever expect to have a day where you have this many tough things happen.

“ This was one of those days where no matter what you tried, it didn’t seem to work, offensively, defensively. It was just one of those days where the offense did not click.”

After Saturday’s game, the Aggies (4-6 overall, 2-4 Big 12) have now allowed opponents 374 points through the first 10 games, passing another dubious record. The most points allowed in a season before this year was 314 in 1982 — Jackie Sherrill’s first year as A&M’s head coach.

The Sooners (10-0 overall, 6-0 Big 12) were so dominant that quarterback Jason White tied the school record for touchdown passes in a game with five just in the first half on the way to a 49-0 lead at the break.

I played golf with some friends yesterday, and we arrived at the clubhouse at the beginning of the third quarter. When I looked over at the clubhouse television, I had to ask the pro behind the counter if the score was correct. It was 56-0, and he just laughed. I'm assuming he's not an Aggie, but I have a few relatives who are. Man, I hope they weren't in Norman for the game.

Pray for Baylor, y'all. I do believe they're going to need it.

Somewhere, R.C. Slocum is laughing....
