OK, so last night I got to see my Minnesota Vikings play the evil, blood-sucking Green Bay Packers (and, sadly, lose 30-27). Living in south Texas, it's not often I get to see my team play, so it's always special- especially when it's the Packers on the other side of the ball.
What I found truly entertaining was ESPN's introduction, which featured men from Wisconsin and Minnesota trading insults to the accompaniment of War's "Why Can't We Be Friends?"....
Wisconin man: "They've got grown men wearing purple. What's up with that??"
Minnesota man: "Hey, Wisconsin; blaze orange camo is NOT formal wear!!"
It's the kind of thing you probably wouldn't understand unless you live or grew up there. I was practically ROTFLMAO, but Susan just didn't get it, poor thing.
Since half of my family are (ugh) Packers fan (my father flies a Packers flag in his front yard near LaCrosse), I usually refrain from calling them on Packer days. If the Vikings win, it's difficult to resist the urge to gloat, and if the Packers win, I just can't stomach hearing about it from them. It's a very even rivlary, all in all. Last night's game was the 85th meeting of the two teams, and the series stands at 42-42-1. The only saving grace from last night's defeat is that the Vikings are 6-2 and the Packers are 4-4.
Aaghhh...lose to the Packers? In Minneapolis? I feel sick....
