Won't someone please think of the children?!?
Having a child in the Clear Creek Independent School District myself, I understand the importance of providing good facilities for our children. Other than that, I'm with Douglas on this one. If you come looking for more of my money for CCISD schools, I want to know that the money is going to improve EDUCATION- you know, textbooks, teaching training and salaries- NOT athletic facilities or band halls or who knows what. It's not that extracurricular activities aren't important. I was an athlete in high school and college myself, and my educational experience would have been much the poorer without athletics. Nonetheless, EXTRAcurricular means exactly that- something outside of the normal educational curriculum.
Look, if CCISD needs a new football stadium, new scoreboards, or new oboes, what is to prevent the district from doing some creative fundraising- selling magazines, holding a bake sale, selling nude teacher calendars, etc.? Spare me the touching stories of poor little rich kids who will be suffering if the bond measure fails. Prove to me that the QUALITY of education will decline- then perhaps we'll have something to talk about.
