I'm not sure I want to know what makes us tick. I just like it.

Universal Theory of Blogging

Yes, someday an earnest young doctoral candidate will do his thesis on what kind of person maintains a daily weblog. I'll leave those questions to those who actually want to know the answers. Speaking for myself, I've got a lot to say and this gives me a forum in which to say it. TPRS may be merely my little corner of the Internet, but if nothing else, at least I am Lord of My Domain here. It's kind of nice having a place where you can be judge, jury, AND executioner with impunity.

BoiFromTroy has his own theory, and I think he's onto something here. I'm not sure that I would buy it wholesale, but he does make some good points.

  1. Bloggers are megalomaniacs: OK, so the world just MIGHT be a better place if y'all would pay attention to me....
  2. Bloggers are narcissistic: I think I'm a good writer, and, again, I have a lot to say. If that makes me narcissistic, well, then I guess I'm guilty as charged. And, yes, I LIKE the fact that increasing numbers of people read TPRS. GOTTAPROBLEMWIDDAT?? ;0)
  3. Bloggers believe, however, in community: Hey, I have met and interacted with people both locally and around the world that I never would have otherwise. How cool is that??
  4. But above all, bloggers are weird: Guilty, guilty, guilty...and I wear that as a badge of distinction.
I find it amazing that TPRS is read by people around the world. It's true: the Internet really HAS made the world a smaller place, no? To me, that can only be a good thing.

Trust me on this one: I've been called things far worse than wierd....
