Hmm...what's an eight-letter word for "hypocritical, judgemental jackass"??

Protesters allege rape victim denied morning-after pill: 40 rally outside Denton Eckerd store

Apparently there was a request for a prescription to be filled and the prescription was denied based on a moral or ethical decision made by the pharmacist, and that's not in accordance with our corporate policy. A prescription is filled regardless of one's religious, moral or ethical belief. Failure to comply would result in disciplinary action, and that has occurred.

- Joan Gallagher, vice president of communications for Eckerd Corp

OK, so what sort of insensitive, narrow-minded dickweed would deny a rape victim access to a drug that she is legally entitled to simply because they happen to find it objectionable and contrary to their own narrow beliefs? Well, this attitude is much more prevalent in this state than Texans will normally own up to.

DENTON -- About 40 people gathered outside an Eckerd store Monday, protesting what they said was a decision to deny a rape victim a prescription for the morning-after pill.

A spokesman for the Largo, Fla.-based company confirmed that Eckerd has taken disciplinary action in response to an incident at the pharmacy....

The protesters carried signs as some chanted slogans.

Morning-after pills are higher doses of the hormones in regular birth control pills and have been sold under the brand names Plan B and Preven since 1998.

Taken within 72 hours of unprotected sexual intercourse, the pills are at least 75 percent effective at preventing pregnancy. They work by preventing ovulation or fertilization of an egg. If fertilization has occurred, they prevent the egg from implanting into the uterus -- the medical definition of pregnancy.

This is what happens when self-righteous, judgemental buffoons feel that their morality is more important than their responsibility to the customers they are charged with serving. Speaking only for myself, I hope there is a special place in hell for this jackass.

The customer in question here was a RAPE victim, someone that should have been treated with a degree of compassion and understanding that the moron in question is apparently incapable of. The role of a pharmacist is to dispense medications prescribed by a medical doctor, NOT pass judgement on the moral acceptability of those medications. Yes, there are those here who believe that a child, even one conceived via a forcible sexual assault, takes primacy over the mother carrying it. These are people that profess to love children, and yet seem to hate the women who carry them.

The only question I would ask this moralizing troll is this: were you to be walking in the shoes of the rape victim, would you also be looking for a morning-after pill? I would submit that the answer to that question is "yes", and if you say "no", you're lying. After all, it's a lot easier to pass judgement when you're not the one dealing with the aftermath of being raped, isn't it??
