Life really does begin on Opening Day

Expectations high with Astros

A week from today, it will once again be time for what has become a family tradition: Opening Day at Minute Maid Park. There is something magical about Opening Day: all things are possible, and hopes are high. This year, those high hopes might just carry the Astros into October.

Memo to self: remember to send George Steinbrenner a thank-you card for the nice gifts. It's not often the Astros have been able to claim a better starting rotation than the Yankees with a straight face. And wouldn't a Yankees-Astros World Series be the height of irony? Personally, I'd prefer a Twins- Astros World Series, but I'm a realist.

Another reason I'm so excited about Opening Day: it means that the Stanley Cup Playoffs are just around the corner. Game on, eh??
