'Tis better to be thought a fool than to be Tom DeLay and remove all doubt

Rep. DeLay: Of Course Rogue Regimes Support Kerry

I've met foreign leaders who can't go out and say this publicly, but boy, they look at you and say, 'You've got to win this, you've got to beat this guy [Bush], we need a new policy,' things like that.

- Rep. Tom DeLay (R-TX)

You know, I've run out of ways to say that Tom DeLay is an ignorant @$$wipe...so I'll just tell it like it is. The sad reality is that DeLay's claim to power has more to do with the legacy of Joseph McCarthy than George W. Bush. If DeLay had anything positive to add to our national political dialogue, he would have taken advantage of numerous opportunities over the years. Sadly, that has not happened, nor will it, because DeLay has nothing positive to add.

Please, can we remember this November that there is a positive, calm, and reasonable alternative to the partisan hate- and fear-mongering that emanates from Tom DeLay's pores? Texas' 22nd Congressional District deserves better:

I do not believe that Tom DeLay is serving the best interests of District 22, our children, our community, our churches, our businesses or our future. I believe that he has strayed from the values that we cherish.

We need a congressman who wants to do what’s right for his neighbors in the district, not what’s right for the powerful special interests.

The number of new jobs in this district should be Tom DeLay’s first priority, not the number of Republicans in Congress.

Increasing the number of children with health insurance in this district should be Tom DeLay’s first concern, not increasing the number of contributors to his campaign.

Solving the transportation problems that threaten to choke off the economic lifeblood of this district should be Tom DeLay’s main concern, not lining the pockets of wealthy highway developers.

When I sit in traffic on my way to work in the morning and I think about Tom DeLay working to prevent federal dollars being used in the area to help solve our transportation problems, I know that I can’t sit back and watch him run again without speaking up and announcing my desire to serve the district in the United States Congress.

Silly me; I'd always thought that a Congressman's first responsibility was to his constituents, not to his own self-aggrandizement. How naive of me.

It's time for DeLay to go back to killing cockroaches. At least they scatter when you turn on the light.
