Blues player is held in murder plot case
OK, let's see if I've got this straight. Mike Danton is 23 years old, a talented hockey player, and making an amazing amount of money for someone his age with no college degree. What could possibly be wrong with this scenario? Well, how about this as a f'rinstance: you could try and ham-handedly take out a contract on someone's life. Yeah, now THAT would certainly qualify you for a DUMB@$$ AWARD- and a long prison sentence.
FBI agents arrested Blues hockey player Mike Danton early Friday on charges that he tried to arrange the murder of an acquaintance at an apartment both used in Brentwood.
Also charged is a woman who said she was involved in a relationship with Danton and who authorities say confessed helping him try to locate a "hit man."
Nobody was injured in the plot, which the FBI said evolved since Tuesday, when Danton, 23, and his target had an argument.
Danton had his entire career, and life, stretched out in front of him, and because of some stupid decisions- not the least of which was trying to hire a hit man- his hockey career is likely over.
If convicted, he could be imprisoned up to 10 years and fined up to $250,000 on each of two counts - that he conspired and used a telephone across state lines to set up a murder.
Yep, it's official- Mike Danton is a DUMB@$$. How many Canadian kids would kill to trade places with him (oops, poor choice of analogies in this case, eh??)?. Instead of being thankful for his place on a team that has reached the playoffs for a quarter-century running, Danton was apparently too busy taking advantage of the excess available to a young kid with too much time, too much money, and not nearly enough moral fiber to keep his priorities straight.
Sadly for Danton, the only hip checks he'll likely be dealing with from now on will come from his fellow inmates. This, sadly, is what can happen when you're a DUMB@$$.
