More on the vision thang

I was laid low early this morning by an unwanted visit from the Migraine Fairy, so I've had some time to reflect on a lot of things relating to my vision today. Well, it was either that or watch daytime television. Yuucccchhh....

I'm beginning to wonder if the recurrence of my migraines isn't related to the eye strain I've been experiencing lately. Adapting to monovision hasn't been quite the picnic that my ophthamalogist painted it to be. Perhaps it is for some people, but I've found myself really struggling with certain aspects of it.

I've heard from a couple friends who both have monovision, and they said that they were able to adapt to it in 3-4 days. Another said it took him a couple of weeks. This past Friday marks four weeks for me, and I've noticed little improvement in the adaptation process over the past 2+ weeks. On a bright, sunny day like this, my vision is better, but I really do struggle with dreary, overcast days or days with a high overcast. The amount of available ambient light definitely seems to make a difference somehow.

On the day that I had LASIK done, I promised myself that I would give the adaptation process a full two months before drawing any definite conclusions. Now I find myself having to remind myself of that promise. The headaches have definitely increased the frustration factor. I was miserable for most of the weekend, and it's extended into today. To say that this is not what I expected would certainly be something of an understatement.

I don't want to make it sound as if I'm complaining, because that is not at all what my frustration is about. My vision on the one had is 20/15 (pretty amazing, no?) and blurry on the other. Somehow, I have to be able to find a way to allow myself to allow the process to play out. It is entirely possible that I will be one of the minority who, for whatever reason, cannot adapt to monovision. I am trying to keep a positive attitude about it, but my head hurts too much now to think very deeply.

Hmm...I wonder what's on Comedy Central??? At least I won't have to think about that too much....
