Another DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener

Powell: Arab world should be more outraged

DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener #91: Colin Powell

Ah, the arrogance of power....

DEAD SEA RESORT, Jordan (CNN) -- The Arab world should be showing "a higher level of outrage" over the death of an American businessman whose beheading was posted on an Islamist Web site last week, U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell said Sunday.

"There's no excuse for silence on this kind of murder," Powell told NBC's "Meet the Press."

"I would like to have seen a much higher level of outrage throughout the world, but especially in the Arab world, to this murder," he said.

"What we saw with this horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible murder should be deplored throughout the Arab world."

Please don't tell me that, after all we have done to Iraq, after the atrocities at Abu Ghraib, Colin Powell is arrogant and ignorant enough to be having conniptions over a "lack of outrage" in the Arab world concerning the beheading of Nicholas Berg? Of course he is, because if he wasn't, we wouldn't be bestowing this shiny new DUMB@$$ AWARD on him now, would we?

It has been said that current foreign policy is big on deadly force, xenophobia, and short-sightedness and short on diplomacy. That would, of course, be something of a gross understatement, but then subtlety has clearly long since been lost on the Bush Administration. So then, to refer to them as a group of clueless DUMB@$$E$ would be like talking to a wall. Ergo, I have chosen to "honor" Colin Powell for his egregious lack of perspective and an appalling yet tenuous grip on political reality in the Middle East. Truly, the man has demonstrated his DUMB@$$-worthiness.
