Ugh....

Just when you might have managed to convince yourself that government is a wasteful and unnecessary presence in our lives, I offer (via Colby Cosh) The History of Rat Control in Alberta. The program was, according to Cosh, "probably the single most successful government program in the history of the universe". I'm going to have to take his word on that, because I have a pathologicial fear of rats, and even thinking about this gives me the creeps. No, I haven't read the article, either, because pictures and discussions of rats freak me out. (I firmly believe that each of us deserves one irrational fear, and this is mine, y'all.)
