Signed Columbia crew photo stolen from restaurant
Someone out there is a heartless jackass, and they know it.
Of all the things to steal from Frenchie's restaurant in Clear Lake, someone had to take perhaps the item with the most sentimental value to its owner and the NASA community.
Owner Frankie Camera said a thief stole an autographed photo of the shuttle Columbia crew they had given the restaurant days before departing on their ill-fated mission.
"I could have kept it at home," Camera said, "but I wanted to share it with the community."
Autographed photos of shuttle crews are common in Clear Lake restaurants, but the Columbia photo holds special meaning because of the Feb. 1, 2003, accident that killed the seven astronauts.
"One day they came in for lunch with the photo," Camera said. "Many times I would get pictures of crews after they come back. This was one of the first times I received a picture before (launch.)"
A sign outside the restaurant often frequented by NASA employees asks for the photo's return.
Memo to the knuckle-dragging moron who took the photo: Was it really worth it? Is it possible for you to look at yourself in the mirror without realizing what a worthless, amoral human being you are? I certainly hope not.
