Another DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener

Syria preparing sanctions against United States

DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener #109: Muhammad Habash

Pardon me if I have to stifle the urge to laugh at this one. I've been to Syria, and I don't recall that there is actually anything in Syria that we couldn't manage to live without. And the point of this would be...?

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) -- Syria is preparing a law that would prohibit trade dealings with the United States in response to U.S. sanctions imposed on the Arab country last month, Syrian legislators said Saturday.

More than 130 members of the 250-seat legislature have prepared a draft of the "America Accountability Act" that would impose "strict sanctions" on American interests in Syria.

In a statement faxed to The Associated Press in Damascus, parliament officials said the draft law is a response to "Washington's policy in the region and its unlimited support and bias for Israeli policies and practices and to the Syria Accountability Act."....

Muhammad Habash, a lawmaker with moderate Islamic affiliations who is one of the campaigners for the draft law, said the law was meant to maintain the dignity of Syrians.

"We are not simple-minded to the degree that we imagine we can affect the great American economy," he said. "But we are able to maintain our dignity and slap the Americans so they know that if they continue with their arrogant policies, people everywhere around the globe will spit at them."

Hmm..let's see what we have here. Syria knowingly harbored terrorists during the war in Iraq, and has actively worked to undermine American efforts there. NOW they throw a hissy fit when we feel compelled to hold them accountable? Perhaps they've forgotten how lucky they were that the US military didn't do the same thing to Damascus that it did to Baghdad. After all, Syria IS next door.

The Syria Accountability Act has banned the export of everything but food and medicines to Syria. In retaliation, the "America Accountability Act" will apparently ban the export of everything except terrorists and terrorism. And Syrians are worried about "maintaining their dignity"? What a load of crap. Perhaps if they spent less time harboring terrorists and supporting their activities, we might cut them some slack.

Since I don't have 130 DUMB@$$ AWARDS laying around the house at the moment (our trophy budget is pretty tight), Mr. Habash will have to accept one on behalf of those 130 members of the Syrian Parliament who have yet to remove their anteriors from their posteriors. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE KITTY LITTER, WILLYA???
