Dodgers, Lima snap Oswalt's winning streak
How embarrassing was this one? Limping into the All-Star break, the Houston Astros (unofficial motto: "Thank God for the Pittsburgh Pirates") ran up against someone with an ax to grind: Jose Lima, whom the Astros had exiled to Detroit when he became perceived as a head case. It's been a long, strange trip for Lima, but he's once again th pitcher he was in the Astros' final year in the Astrodome.
Yesterday he beat the Astros 7-4, pulling the handle on the Astros' (lack of) effort to flush their season down the toilet. The team that in March was expecting to host a World Series is now 44-43, 10 games behind the division-leading St. Louis Cardinals. While the Astros may be circling the drain, but Jose Lima is enjoying life- as well he should. The Dodgers are playing well, they have arguably the best defense in the National League, and they are doing what it takes to win- which is more than you can say for the Astros.
You can't blame Lima for enjoying being able to beat up on the team that gave up on him. It's just too bad that the Astros have made a collective decision to mail in their season.
