OK, I understand that not everyone will be down with this sort of thing, but isn't tastelessness part and parcel of the college experience? How many of us can't say we didn't spend four years fascinated with anything tastelessly and/or humorously sexual?
GAINESVILLE -- University of Florida's cheerleading coach is being fired after giving the squad permission to wear sexually explicit T-shirts at a cheerleading camp.
Gene Moore says he was unfairly terminated for allowing squad members to wear the shirt that listed "Ten Reasons to Cheer Naked.'' He was fired after the University Athletic Association received complaints.
The firing leaves the squad without a coach three weeks before the first football game. Practices have been temporarily suspended. Moore had been coach for five years.
Now, unless I'm missing something here, the members of the cheerleading squad are all adults, and as adults they're capable of making their own choices regarding their apparel. OK, so perhaps it's not what you or I might wear (or maybe I would), but is this really grounds for terminating a university employee?
Methinks that perhaps someone may just need to get over themselves.
