It was a VERY good day

You'll get nothing and like it: Texans take Cowboys down, 18-0

My NFL allegiances are pretty straightforward. I root first for the Minnesota Vikings, the Houston Texans, and then whoever happens to be playing the Dallas Cowboys or the Green Bay Packers. Last night, I got it doubly good, with Houston beating up on "America's Team" at Reliant Stadium in Houston.

It could have been five-on-five in the back yard, a scrimmage across the street at the practice facility or a late-night battle on Madden 2005. A shutout is a shutout even if it occurs in a meaningless preseason game, especially for a Texans defense trying to re-establish its identity after ranking next-to-last in the NFL in 2003.

The Texans posted their first victory in an exhibition game at Reliant Stadium and ended a seven-game preseason losing streak, shutting out the Dallas Cowboys 18-0 Saturday night. It was the first time the Texans held an opponent scoreless in any type of game.

A crowd of 70,431, the largest to witness a preseason game in the history of professional football in Houston, watched the Texans' defense force four turnovers and allow the Cowboys to cross midfield only twice when their drive didn't start in Texans territory.

OK, so it was only a preseason game. Nonetheless, any day that brings a loss by the Cowboys is by definition a good day. That they were done dirty by Houston is that much sweeter. The only thing that could make it even better would be the Cowboys losing to Minnesota in the NFC Championship game. Hey, c'mon; a man can dream, no??

Even in Spanish, it still sounds good:
