Highlight might not be the right word, but certainly my most memorable mental snapshot from our Alaskan vacation was that of a bald eagle perched on a rock at the gulf shoreline near Juneau, remarkably close to our sightseeing-excursion boat.
There was the eagle, our national symbol, imprimatur of freedom and strength, standing nearly still as stone, the very picture of majesty.
And then there was that same eagle . . . urinating. Quick forward lean and a fast jet stream. Done! Try finding that on a dollar bill. I have rarely been prouder to be an American.
