I arrived in Florida this afternoon to find this:
I don't know if this is the tail end of the tropical depression that is due to hit the Carolinas, but Miami has had some hellacious thunder, lightning, and rain. Of course, this is the first time I've been to Miami, so this might be standard fare. The thunder has been so loud that it's set off a car alarm in a vehicle just below my apartment window- twice.
The weather here has been a bit of a trade-off from Houston. It's a bit cooler, but the humidity is somewhat akin to being in a sauna wearing Saran Wrap. Yeah...South Florida in August; what the Hell was I thinking??
It ought to be an interesting month. Now if I can just figure out the directions for getting to work tomorrow, I'll be off to a flying start.
