Welcome back to the world

After being gone for a month, I'm discovering that one doesn't just jump back into the rhythm of life at home without missing a beat. While I was in Miami, life here went on without me (I know; whodathunkit??), and now I'm finding that I have to reintegrate myself. It's a phnomenon common to soldiers and soldiers on extended overseas duty. In their absence, things change at home. Wives and children adapt to life without the man of the house being around, and when the man returns, it takes everyone time to readjust. Of course, I've only been gone a month, and my situation is hardly as onerous as anything a military family would have to deal with.

Everything seems exactly the same but totally different. I'm not sure I can adequately describe what I'm feeling, but things just feel different. I suppose that, given a few days, things will return to normal, or what passes for it around these parts. At the moment, though, I feel a bit like a square peg trying to hammer myself into a round hole.
