Care to donate to Congressman Downlow's reelection campaign? The Log Cabin Republicans just LOVE him.

(thanks to Adam for sharing this one...oh, the humanity....)

VA-02: Outed Hypocrite Provides Pickup Opportunity

U.S. Rep. Schrock drops re-election bid over allegations

Uh, hi, I weigh 200 pounds, uh, six-foot-four, hazel eyes, blond hair, very muscular, very buffed-up, uh, very tanned, um, I'd just like to get together with a guy from time to time just to -- just to play. I'd like him to be, uh, in very good shape, flat stomach, good chest, good arms, well-hung, cut, uh, just get naked, play, and see what happens, nothing real heavy duty, but just a fun time, go down on him, he can go down on me, and just, uh, take it from there. Hope to hear from you. Bye.

- Rep. Ed Scrock (R-VA)

It would be difficult to overstate the delicious irony of this moment. No, I'm not going to gloat over the political demise of a True Blue Red Meat Dyed-In-The-Wool Republican, though I could. I really could. BIG TIME. But I'm a better person that that....

MUST. RESIST. THE. TEMPTATION. TO. GLOAT....

What is disgusting about this sorry episode is that Shrock was, save for Dennis Hastert, the single most Conservative member of Congress. Sadly, his private persona was clearly at war with his public one. Given his efforts to outlaw the very lifestyle he was pursuing on the downlow, Ed Schrock deserves every bit of public condemnation and ridicule that will justifiably focused in his direction.

Those of us who believe in karma are smiling.

Rep. Ed Schrock is a two-term Republican congressman from Virginia's Second District. The National Journal ties him as the second most conservative person in all of Congress in 2003, behind only Dennis Hastert. This isn't necessarily a turn-off in his district, which includes Virginia Beach, home of Pat Robertson, as well as Hampton Roads, home of 300,000 active-duty military and veterans. A strong family man with a wife and kids, Schrock was a co-sponsor of the Federal Marriage Amendment and opposes any possible rights for gay people, including non-discrimination in employment.

The problem is, his constituents may soon discriminate against his employment, as Schrock also seeks out gay sex on telephone dating services, and gay activists are about to release the tapes....

I've actually heard part of one tape, played to me over the phone by a "friend in high places" in DC. The tip-off was probably when he said, "You must be very discreet. I cannot overemphasize that," while the rest definitely did not sound like what a member of Congress might say.

Careful there; that sound you heard was the political career of a Republican hypocrite blowing up. If there is anything more despicable a Conservative Republican engaging in the very behavior he has worked to destroy, I can't imagine what it could be.

Normally, I'm not one to support someone being outed against their will, but in this case, Rep. Schrock deserves to be held up to public ridicule. Here is a man who held himself up as a moral, righteous Conservative while actively working to marginalize those who openly engaged in the sort of behaviors he engaged in himself.

Hmm...what a nine-letter word for someone doesn't practice what he preaches? could it be...HYPOCRITE??

If you don't believe that a righteous, moral Conservative Republican could be capable of this sort of behavior, you can listen to the audio here.

I HATE hypocrites....
